While completing my PR degree at Suffolk University I stumbled into a part time job at the world's most famous bar. While my mother doesn't see serving beers as a future, I've been able to tie my knowledge of local craft beers, tourists and marketing together, creating a passion for start up companies and small businesses. Life is a learning experience and I'll constantly strive to be better than I was yesterday.
I found myself leading group projects in school after choosing not to be the leader. I surprise myself sometimes with the creativity I produce, and my peers seem to acknowledge my talents in group settings, creating some awesome collaborations. Senior year was my most successful as I tackled an internship, two part time jobs and real client campaigns for several classes. I was a part of two great assignments that taught me the pros and cons with shutting the books and diving into client relationships. I'm proud of my accomplishments as a student and after graduating sought to put them into real life. Although my job title has yet to be my ideal one, I have embraced the opportunities given to me and outside of school I continue to learn. This has brought me to the Startup Institute and the Marketing Track. I found myself immersed in local craft beer, creating relationships with local breweries and marketing these passionate businesses through my job in the restaurant industry. I now find myself wanting to learn more about the start up culture, beyond beer, and back to my technology background with the skills I possess.
What skills do you bring to a project team?
Although my background isn't coding or website development, I have worked with computers professionally and personally for over 10 years. I created web pages with simple html when I was in middle school and customized my MySpace page as a teenager. Now, I work with social media through several platforms, monitor growth through analytics and alerts, and understand using social media as a marketing tool. My creativity and marketing ideas come from observing, reading and interacting with online sources. I'll bring new ideas, problem solving techniques and a little goofiness to any project team.
Who am I?
Besides the basics like I love my cat, family, friends, Beyonce, craft beers, etc. I'm also a passionate, silly, goal oriented woman. I'm learning everyday and trying to be a better person and professional than I was the day before. I'll be the first to admit when I have no idea how to do something, and the first to try to change that. I want to be a part of something great. I want to work for people who love their job at a place that loves its employees and work together to make everything bigger and better.
